Women have worn foundation garments since the beginning of time: slips, corsets, garter belts, girdles, you name it. Foundation garments were notoriously uncomfortable, cumbersome, restrictive and hot. Foundation garments have, thankfully, morphed into a very comfortable and effective type of undergarment. You won’t hate wearing it. You won’t even remember that you ARE wearing it because it’s that comfortable.
The purpose of foundation garments was (and still is) to shape and mold the body. The type of foundation garment required very much depended on the style of the day. If a small waist were de rigueur then waist cinchers were worn. If flattened busts were popular the women found a way to flatten their breasts. Men used to wear waist shapers, but that practice has pretty much gone by the wayside.
Shapewear is made to change a woman’s body, making it appear slimmer or enhancing her natural curves. Shapewear is found in bras, camisoles, hip slips, bodysuits, control slips and waist shapers as well as panties that hoist up the butt, flatten the belly and slim the waist. When wearing shapewear, it eliminates unsightly panty lines and a woman appears more contoured and smoother.
Shapewear comes in a variety of types including light control, moderate control, firm control and extra control. Each level gives you that much more compression.
Select the strength that you need. If you really need to be pulled in then you will go for the firm control or extra control. If you just need a little bit of help, select light or moderate control shapewear.
Do not think that those women on the red carpet that you so greatly admire have the perfect body. They don’t. They simply know how to dress and what to wear under their garments to show their bodies off to their best advantage. You can do this too. It’s kind of like giving your body a facelift but know one knows about it, except you.
When you want to look your best, feel your best and disguise those things about your body that you’d rather not flaunt, head for the shapewear department. If you have never worn this type of undergarment you are going to be pleasantly surprised.
