Find out what happened to Jeannie, Major Nelson, and their friends.
I Dream of Jeannie is one of the classic sitcoms of the 1960s. NBC produced the show when they saw rival network ABC’s success with the fantasy-themed sitcom Bewitched. NBC hoped for as big a success, and they weren’t disappointed. The show ran from 1965 to 1970, and was about NASA Astronaut Tony Nelson and his Jeannie in a bottle. Have you ever wondered what ever happened to the cast of I Dream of Jeannie?
Barbara Eden
Barbara Eden played the sexy Jeannie. Her work in the show earned her two nominations for a Golden Globe. The show relied on the sexual tension between Jeannie and Major Nelson, played by Larry Hagman. The two characters married in the final season.
After the show was cancelled, Eden returned to the role of Jeannie in two television movies: I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later in 1985 and I Still Dream of Jeannie in 1991. She also appeared in many TV commercials. She starred as Stella Johnson in the short-lived TV series Harper Valley, PTA, and in 1990 she appeared in five episodes of Dallas, which had her working with Hagman again. She also appeared in several episodes of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
She reunited with Larry Hagman in 2006 on a tour to promote the DVD release of the first season of I Dream of Jeannie. She is married to her third husband, Jon Eicholtz, and they live in Sacramento, Calif.
Larry Hagman
NASA astronaut Tony Nelson was played by Larry Hagman. When I Dream of Jeannie was over, he appeared in many TV series and films during the 70s. He then took the role he is best-known for: J.R. Ewing in the 80s primetime soap Dallas. He received two Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations for playing the patriarch Ewing. He has since appeared as a guest star on Nip/Tuck and The Simpsons.
Hagman married Maj Axelsson from Sweden in 1954 and they are still married to this day ? quite a feat in Hollywood. He is a liberal politically, and spoke out against President Bush at the beginning of the Iraq War. A heavy drinker during the I Dream of Jeannie days, Hagman had a liver transplant in 1995.

Bill Daily
Bill Daily played Tony Nelson’s best friend and fellow astronaut, Roger Healey. After I Dream of Jeannie, he starred in The Bob Newhart Show as the Hartley’s neighbor Roger Howard, the role he is most remembered for. He later appeared as Larry the psychiatrist on the sitcom Alf.
Daily returned to his role as Roger Healey in both I Dream of Jeannie reunion movies. He has been married three times, and lives in New Mexico with his current wife, Becky. He occasionally appears as a guest host on an Albuquerque radio station.
William Rorke
The only other major character on I Dream of Jeannie was the NASA psychiatrist Dr. Bellows, played by William Rorke. Before the show, he had small roles in several theatrical films, but he is best known as Bellows. Bellows was his final role when he appeared in the 1985 reunion movie. He died of cancer in 1987 at the age of 76.
What ever happened to the cast of I Dream of Jeannie? They all went on with their lives, but they are forever immortalized as the roles they continue to play on late night television and DVDs.
