There’s certainly nothing wrong with smelling good, particularly in the warm summer months when the alternative can be, well, not so good.
In addition to a lot of snazzy names, the scents for men below share some common characteristics, as befits summer scents. A lighter citrus or floral aroma is the preferred basis for summer colognes; we’ll save the heavy, muskier scents for the fall.
So hunt through these suggestions, and then head over to an online perfume mall like Perfumania, to get a masculine scent that is right on the mark.
10. Hugo by Hugo Boss
Nothing new about Hugo; this scent has been improving the smell of men since ’95. Heavy, though in a good way, on the pine and rosebud undertone, The Boss even presents the cologne in a cool, canteen shaped container.
9. Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier
In keeping with the lighter, citrus-laden odor, Le Male includes a touch of mint and orange blossom. But fear not, there’s no chance of smelling like an outdoor fruit stand with Le Male. It’s subtle enough, and adequately combines with a man’s natural aroma, to comfortably make our Top 10 Summer Scents for Men list.
8. Platinum Label by Perry Ellis
Like Hugo, and a few others on our Top 10 list, Perry Ellis has a long and distinguished track record of helping men smell good, particularly working with natural odors. Platinum Label is one of the more unique scents for summer; combining a hint of bamboo, mandarin ice and sea moss. Ah, fresh as the day is long.
7. Thierry Mugler Cologne To Go
Another scent using a hint of orange blossom, Cologne To Go splashes a bit of white musk to keep things light, with just the right hint of summertime. More so than some scents on our list, Thierry Mugler’s cologne is very affordable as well.
6. Kenzo L’eau Par Kenzo Pour Homme
Thankfully, you don’t have to actually pronounce this cologne to enjoy its homage to nature. Hailing from Japan, Kenzo is noted for combining the natural and modern worlds. L’eauParKenzo Pour Homme accomplishes the feat by combining yuzo, ho and a touch of mint.
5. Ermenegildo Zegna Colonia
Designed for warm summer evenings, Zegna Colonia is a tad muskier than some scents for men on our Top 10 List, but then it should be; it’s for evenings after all. With the air a bit cooler, a man’s summer scent should have a little more bang for aroma buck.
4. Burberry Sport
The name says it all with this scent for men. With summer approaching, an active man needs a scent suited to the change in lifestyle. Burberry delivers with some ginger, grapefruit, and even a touch of gin and tonic. Make mine a double, please.
3. Givenchy Play
As if we were going to have a Top 10 list of scents for men and not include Givenchy. Like the Burberry cologne, Play was conceived with the active summer man in mind. The more active the man, the more the hints of mandarin and bitter orange rise to the challenge.
2. Bulgari Aqva Pour Homme Marine
For the active sailor, swimmer and overall water enthusiast, here’s another scent on our list that the name aptly describes the cologne’s objective. Days spent in and around the water are what summer is all about, and Bulgari accentuates it to a T.
1. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme
Popular Savings Offers
Number 1 on our list is the ideal summer cologne. Designed specifically for long days in the sun, Dolce & Gabbana’s scent aims to recreate the aroma, and feel, of the Italian coast in mid-summer. Not a bad place to spend a few quality summer days; even if it is via scent only.
