Traveling to St. Louis and want to take in some shopping as well as the local sights?
Here is our list of the top ten places to shop in Missouri’s great destination city. Locals, check this out too, your wonderful city has a wealth of places for window shopping, strolling or power-shopping.
10. Brentwood Square
Shoppers who value the healthy lifestyle will feel at home at Brentwood Square. The Square is home to natural foods giant Whole Food and Seattle-based outdoor store REI. Grab lunch at Panera Bread, then find the tools you need to organize your home or office at the Container Store.
Whether you’re ready to spend the day shopping with friends, or are just off to look for that special gift, the St. Louis Galleria has what you need. Find all your favorite stores and shops at the St. Louis Galleria, including Coldwater Creek, Steve Madden, The Disney Store, Fossil, Macy’s, Dillard and Nordstrom.
8. St. Louis Mills ,
Okay, there’s a theme here. I love being outdoors, so the first few places to shop in St. Louis are probably going to have some outdoor connection. In the case of St. Louis Mills, it’s Cabella’s, the leading outdoor supply store. But if drooling over the latest in tents and hiking boots isn’t your thing, you’ll still love this mall. There’s a MegaMarshalls for the bargain shopper, a Gymboree outlet for awesome baby and toddler clothes, an Archiver’s for the scrapbookers and over 170 more stores for everything else you might need.
7. The Meadows at Lake St. Louis
Enjoy fresh air and over 35 of the most popular shops like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Yankee Candle, Coldwater Creek and Banana Republic in this low key, easy to shop outdoor mall.
With more that 40 top name stores like Lucky Brand, Kate Spade New York, Sur La Table, and Missouri’s only Neiman Marcus, Plaza Fontenac is sure to be one of your favorite places to shop in St. Louis.
After your shopping is done, choose from one of the fine or casual dining restaurants, or take in the latest releases at the six-screen theatre.
It seems like I can never do a “best places to shop” list without including at least one really exceptional vintage store. And in St. Louis, that’s the Avalon Exchange.
For over 20 years, they’ve been the destination of choice for men and women who want unique fashions and the looks from days gone by. Because it’s a vintage store you may have to make a few visits to find exactly what you want, but the search is half the fun!
You’ll find them on Delmar in the heart of the University city loop.
This is the shopping mall to choose when you want a good mix of department stores (Dillard’s, Macy’s and Sears) and lots of other national chains from dEliA’s to Radio Shack. In April of 2012, a new American Girl store will open. And did I mention a totally awesome carousel?
Add in a food court, some good full-service restaurants and lots of special events, and you have the perfect all-day shopping destination.
It’s hard to imagine what you could want to buy that you couldn’t find at the West County Center Mall. From clothes for the kids to new shoes for that special occasion, to home decor, it’s all here.
Shop national stores like Macy’s, Justice, Times Remembered and Dick’s Sporting Goods, then treat yourself to a delicious supper or an afternoon snack in the food court or one of the on-property restaurants.
I love shopping areas that take you out of the standard mall setting and into neighborhoods, and that’s exactly what The Boulevard does. One of my favorite home decor shops is there: Soft Surroundings with their selection of unabashedly romantic furniture, bedding and home accessories.
And if a wedding is in your future, brides-to-be can not only furnish their new home, they can also pick out a stunning gown at Brides by Demetrios.
If you get hungry, there are several restaurants, including Nadoz Euro Bakery and Cafe with their “forget about counting calories for awhile” desserts (remember, there’s always tomorrow to diet!)
Located on Cherokee Street between Jefferson and Lemp Avenues in St. Louis, Antique Row takes the number one position for the top places to shop in St. Louis.
