10. Maine
Grab your sunglasses. A quiet drive along the Atlantic coast shows visitors the beauty that is Maine. In fact, it may be the Pine Tree State but it has some of the best fall foliage, too.

To many travelers, a fall color tour in Vermont is the quintessential autumn drive. Renowned for its undisturbed natural beauty, Vermont has some great fall vistas for both professional and amateur photographers.
8. Minnesota
The leaves in northern Minnesota lose that chlorophyll early, sometimes as early as the first few days of September. Grab a cardigan sweater and head out for a walk around one of the many lakes and the best fall foliage of the season.
7. West Virginia
Everything is bigger and better in West Virginia, from the huge rhododendrons in the spring to the amazing color changes of autumn. In fact, the fall dam drops on the Gauley River are considered some of the best river rafting in the country.
6. Tennessee
The lovely colors of Tennessee’s best fall foliage are best observed from the many rivers and streams of the Volunteer State.

The lakeshore and Wisconsin Dells may both be popular spots in the summer but fall in Wisconsin is ruled by country backroads, farmers markets and apple orchards. Be sure to dig out that famous apple pie recipe.

Aspen. Breckenridge. Telluride. The names conjure up images of winter skiing but they also have riotous fall foliage color.
3. Southern Illinois
Rural and rugged southern Illinois is great for hiking and biking in the back woods to see all the fall color. The warmer temperatures help the season lasts well into November.
