The old phrase “Dress for Success” has always been looked at as self-explanatory.

The fact of the matter is that people always have different understandings of what kind of dress will actually lead to success. If you are a man in the business world, there are a couple of different things you should wear to the office. If you are a woman, there are other things, but it seems like men have a more of a set kind of dress code. If you actually do want to Dress for Success and even Dress to Impress then you need to be sporting most, if not all of the top ten things to wear to work.

10. Dress Hats

Dress Hats

While most people will tell you that wearing a Fedora went out sometime in the 1960’s, these hats are actually making a bit of a comeback in the business world. Obviously you’ve got to pair these hats with the right clothes, but you’ll impress everyone if you can pull the look off well.

9. Neck Ties

 Neck Ties

Obviously, neck ties have become a rather large way we show that we take our work seriously. The real story is that the way we impress people with what we are wearing when it comes to this, is that you need to find one that stands out, without being too garish. Solid color neck ties certainly work, but if you can find a tie that is both classy and refined you will enjoy having one of the best things to wear to work in this day and age.

8. Suspenders

Suspenders

Suspenders are an accessory that have also popped up as something that business men wear more and more often, after they seemingly went out of style a few years ago. You can find selections that go with almost any outfit and will make that outfit look that much classier.

7. Slacks

Slacks

You really don’t want to stroll into work wearing a pair of sweatpants or shorts (unless you’re in costume.) In order to impress your coworkers and superiors, you should always show up wearing some kind of 6. Dress Shirt

Dress Shirt

This seems like sort of a no-brainer if you are wearing something like a neck tie and suspenders or slacks. The dress shirt is something that simply pulls the look together. Like the neck tie, this is also a look that you can change and adapt to your look. The most important part is that the shirt is in fact a good looking dress shirt.

5. Sport Coat

Sport Coat

This is slightly different than what comes next on this list. A sport coat can go with a variety of different shirts and slacks and does not necessarily come as a set. Sportcoats can also be worn with less fancy shirts and dress and still make you look pretty darn good.

4. Three Piece Suit

 Three Piece Suit

Suits are a little different than anything else on this list because they tend to come as a set. The jacket and the pants, as well as a vest all matches perfectly and isn’t going to match that well with other selections. Suits have long been and will continue to be something that anyone who takes their job seriously will wear.

3. Shoes

Shoes

It is a waste of time and effort to wear a nice suit or even just some nice slacks and a shirt and tack on some clogs or sneakers. You want to find some really nice shoes that are shiny and good looking to go along with the rest of your wear.

2. Watches

Watches

This is less about clothing and more about looking for the right kind of accessories. It is also about always knowing what time it is and making sure that if you have an important meeting you aren’t late. You don’t need to have a real fancy watch, but the fancier you dress, the better looking this watch had better be.
