Sangria recipes are easy, fun and create a festive summer drink.

When many people think of summer, they envision lying poolside with a festive, tasty drink in hand. One of the most popular and enjoyable summer drinks is sangria, which is why it comes in handy to have a few sangria recipes in your arsenal.

Almost anyone who has had sangria enjoys the taste. It’s easy to see why, as summer sangria recipes combine tasty liquor with lots of fresh, summer fruit. If you’re in the mood for an inexpensive drink that is flavorful and fun, then give these summer sangria recipes a try.

Melon-Berry White Wine Sangria

In a large pitcher, combine 1/2 cup each of superfine white sugar, triple sec and brandy, along with two 750-ml bottles of white wine. Stir the mixture until the sugar has dissolved, which shouldn’t take too long if you are using superfine sugar. Place the pitcher in the fridge and allow it to chill for 2 1/2 hours.

When you are ready to serve the summer sangria, add one 750-ml bottle of club soda, along with one cup each of honeydew and cantaloupe balls or chunks. In addition, add 1/2 cup each of lemon, lime and orange slices and one cup of whole strawberries without the leaves. Add about 15 ice cubes to the sangria to keep the mixture cool. Use a clear pitcher and glasses so that your guests can see the bright fruit floating in the sangria. Serve Melon-Berry Sangria in festive vessels, such as hurricanes or fun wine glasses for a special touch.

There are many different tasty summer sangria recipes to choose from. Another version is made by mixing two 750-ml bottles of red wine in a large pitcher with two cups each of rum and orange juice and one cup of superfine sugar. Stir the liquid together with a large spoon until the sugar has dissolved. In a large bowl, place one pint of fresh, sliced strawberries; one 20-ounce can of pineapple chunks in juice and one 10-ounce jar of Maraschino cherries.

Pour two cups each of rum and orange juice over the fruit and allow them to soak. Refrigerate both the fruit and the sangria for at least 8 hours and even overnight, if possible. When you are ready to serve your summer sangria, drain the fruit and add it to the sangria.

Another option for a summer sangria recipe involves combining two bottles of dry white wine with 3/4 cups each brandy and simple syrup and 1/2 cup of triple sec.

Add three or four white peaches that have been peeled, pitted and sliced, along with three sliced oranges, three sliced green apples, two sliced lemons and four peeled and sliced peaches. Stir the mixture and check the sweetness. Add more simple syrup if it is not sweet enough. Refrigerate the summer sangria for at least two hours and up to two days. Be sure to serve this festive treat over ice.

Some of the best summer memories involve friends, food, drink and fun. So, the next time you are relaxing in your garden, yard or pool with those that are closest to you, serve some refreshing sangria and create your best summer memory yet.
