Spring fashions that will knock your socks off

Fashions for spring are here

Fashions for spring are here

Spring is almost here, and that means it?s time to pack away those heavy sweater, stow the bulky boots and stash the gloves ? and finally bring out the spring fashions.

But is your wardrobe ready for spring? If you?re not sure, check out these hot trends for spring fashions just in time for the season to start.

Springtime for a woman?s wardrobe

After the dark colors of winter, it?s no wonder that designers opt for soft pastels and gentle florals for their spring lines.

This spring, feminine is in, so expect to see lots of long, flowing skirts, buttery soft cotton tops and floral accents. Lightweight cardigans are hot this year, so be sure to grab a few to pair with cotton t?s over jeans, shorts or skirts.

Shorts are a bit longer this season, with shape-flattering cuts that work even if the gym isn?t on your daily schedule. Be sure to accent your shorts with colorful belts with just a touch of bling, then top it off with a pretty floral top and simple jewelry in silver or copper.

Linen pants are another stand-by that are making a big comeback this year. Be sure to stock up on these versitile wardrobe staples in shades of oatmeal, taupe and vanilla for a look that will carry you comfortably from brunch to a party with just a change of accessories and shoes.

And speaking of shoes, spring is the perfect time to invest in some new shoes to go with those lighter colored clothes.  Look for classic espadrilles, oh-so-comfy ballet flats (look for Easter egg colors this year!) and pretty patent leather pumps.

Spring Fashions for Men

Men are as anxious to shed winter clothes, but might feel left out of the spring fashion trends. After all, there’s only so much you can do with shirts and pants, right?  Wrong!

Guys, it’s time to update your closet, too. Consider adding a selection of cool and comfortable short-sleeved sport shirts in pastel plaid, soft stripes or subtle color-on-color patterns.

Pair them with lightweight trousers in cotton, twill or a linen blend. Grab some cooler, lightweight silk socks to replace winter-worn heavy cottons and wools. Then take a page from the women’s fashion line and add some lightweight cardigan sweaters (and no, you will NOT look like Mr. Rogers!)

Men’s shorts are hot this spring, too. This season, replace those old ratty cargos with some trendier cotton plaids in board shorts length.

Spring shoes for men are big this year, with tan or cream oxfords leading the way. Slip into comfortable canvas boat shoes (sans socks, of course) or if the weather warms up enough, break out a new pair of leather sandals.

And then there are the kids…

Odds are your kids have outgrown everything you carefully saved from last autumn, so make time to treat them to some new spring looks, too.

Boys and girls alike will love the trend for casual, easy-to-wear graphic t’s in vintage prints. Add some lightweight pants, a spring jacket or two, and your kids will be ready to head outside to run off some of that winter house-bound energy.
