A cookie press is a baking instrument used to push dough through a disk with a hole in the center, giving cookies shapes such as a hearts, diamonds, stars or any other shapes the cookie press supplies. A cookie press cookie is also known as a spritz cookie. Here are a few favorite cookie press recipes for you to try.

Chocolate drizzle cookies

Ingredients:

Two-thirds-cup sugar

One-cup butter, softened

One egg

One-half-teaspoon salt

Two-teaspoon vanilla

One-fourth-cup coarsely grated semi-sweet chocolate

Two-and-one-fourth-cups all-purpose flour

Heat oven to 450-degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, egg, butter, salt and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping the bowl often until the mixture is light and fluffy, usually two to three minutes. Add flour and coarsely-grated chocolate. Beat at a low speed until well mixed. If the dough is too soft, refrigerate until it’s firm enough to form cookies. Place dough in cookie press and form desired shapes. Place on a cookie sheet, one inch apart. Bake for six to eight minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let cool and enjoy!

Sugar cookies

Ingredients:

One-cup butter

Three-fourths-cup sugar

One egg

One-half-teaspoon baking powder

One-teaspoon vanilla

One-half-teaspoon salt

Two-cups sifted flour

Food coloring of your choice

Cream butter adding sugar gradually and beat until light. Add egg and flavoring and mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well. Divide the dough and add food coloring. Fill the cookies press with the dough, and shape on an ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400-degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets and cool on racks.

Butter cookies

Ingredients:

One-half-cup butter

Three-fourths-cup granulated sugar

One-half-cup shortening

One large egg

Two-and-one-fourth-cups all-purpose flour

One-half-teaspoon baking powder

One-fourth-teaspoon salt

One-teaspoon almond or vanilla extract

In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugar with an electric mixer until its fluffy. Add the egg and beat it well. Add the extract. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and gradually add it to the creamed mixture. Put the dough through the cookie press machine, and place the cookies one-inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350-degrees Fahrenheit for seven to eight minutes. Cook the cookies on a rack.

Chocolate sprinkle cookies

Ingredients:

Five-eights-cup shortening

One-and-three-fourths-cups white sugar

One beaten egg

One-half-teaspoon vanilla extract

Two-teaspoon milk

Two-cups all-purpose flour

Six-tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

One-half-teaspoon salt

One-fourth-cup multi-colored sprinkles (optional)

Pre-heat the oven to 350-degrees Fahrenheit. In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until its smooth. Beat in the egg and stir in the vanilla and milk. Combine the flour, cocoa and salt and stir in the creamed mixture until just blended. Fill the cookie press with dough and press onto ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate with sprinkles if desired. Bake for 10 minutes in the pre-heated oven and remove to cool on racks. Serve and enjoy!

Cream cheese cookies

(This is one of the most delicious cookie press recipes around!)

Ingredients:

One-cup butter

Three-ounces cream cheese

One-cup granulated sugar

One egg yolk

Two-and-a-half-cups all-purpose flour

One-fourth-teaspoon lemon extract

One-teaspoon vanilla extract

One-half-teaspoon salt

Beat butter and cream cheese well. And remaining ingredients and mix well. Run through cookie press and form shapes. Bake at 350-degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
