Movies have long been a way families can bond by sitting down and watching them together.
The problem with movies today is there aren’t that many that are actually acceptable for the entire family. These days, we tend to have to make accommodations like “well the youngest can leave the room during certain scenes.” That doesn’t have to be the way we operate on family movie night though. If we turn to one kind of genre there is a chance we’re going to find a movie that the entire family can actually watch without anyone having to leave the room. 10. The Passion of the Christ
This movie can be a bit gruesome at times, but it depicts the final 12 hours in the life of Jesus Christ. It will teach the whole family what the savior had to go through in order to become the Savior.
9. War Room
War Room is one of the latest Christian movies and has actually gotten very good reviews from the mainstream audience. The movie centers around a family that seemingly had it all but it turns out temptation has warped this husband and wife. The pair go on a journey to repair their relationship and their souls.
8. Left Behind
Left Behind is such a good story, it’s actually been told a number of times. To some degree the movies are not that great but the stories behind them are riveting.
7. Fireproof
Fireproof tells the tale a firefighter who comes to the realization that he hasn’t been as good a husband as he has been a first responder. He eventually turns to his faith in order to try and figure out how to fix his marriage.
6. God’s Not Dead
The story of God’s Not Dead is one of a philosophy professor who has been teaching his students that God does not exist. One of those students goes on a kind of quest to show this professor that the entity does indeed exist.
5. Facing the Giants
In the movie Facing the Giants, a losing football coach is trying to turn his team around. The wins and losses on the field are only part of the story of this inspiring message. The Giants in this film are actually self-doubt and fear.
4. The Chronicles of Narnia
Not all great Christian family movies need to be obviously Christian. The Chronicles of Narnia have always been very good at hiding its overall message inside a story that can capture the imagination.
3. Courageous
The movie titled Courageous is one that centers around a sheriff’s deputy who has suffered a tragedy at work that forces him to reevaluate the way he’s been living his life. In the end, he turns to his religion in order to help him work through his problems and find what’s really important.
2. Luther
Luther is the story of the man who eventually set up the Lutheran church. It turns out that Martin Luther was not someone who was well liked by the Catholic church, considering he was trying to claim that some of its teachings were actually wrong.
