Choosing homeopathic medicines that work for you requires research and trial

Homeopathy is a practice appealing to those who would rather not reach into the medicine cabinet for a pill or ‘tonic’ every time they get sick or have a malady. This medical practice was discovered by Samuel Hahnemann, a German scientist and physician. His approach was based on the premise that ‘Like cures like,’ now called the ‘Law of Similars.’

Like Cures Like

So what does ?like cures like? mean?

Hippocrates talked about it. It means that a patient suffering from symptoms can be treated and cured by doses of a substance (mineral, animal or plant) capable of producing similar symptoms in a healthy person.

Five hundred million people use homeopathy around the world ? which according to the World Health Organization makes it the 2nd most commonly used form of alternative medicine.

Minimum Dose

It is possible to learn how to use homeopathy for simple acute ailments. In fact, there are many internet sources and books available on that topic. For more serious ailments, choosing which homeopathic remedy is right for you takes time, research and guidance from someone well-trained in this field. If you decide to go this route, you must first consult with your physician. Do NOT stop taking medications without talking to your doctor.

The standard of homeopathy is: Give the smallest amount of medicine needed to induce a healing response. This is referred to as the ‘Minimum Dose.’ Yes, modern medicine is a wonderful thing and has saved many from certain death but, on the other hand, there are various and serious side effects to the drugs people take. Sometimes the side effects are worse than the disease itself.

Dosage and Potency

Most homeopathy potency scales are designated by an X or a C. X is the Roman Numeral for 10. This means the medicine was diluted 1:10 during the preparation process. C stands for 100 and means the product was diluated 1:100 during preparation.

Science is now showing that  the final product is a gentle and safe natural nanomedicine, one not likely to produce side effects and without drug interactions.

Standard Treatments

Examples of traditional homeopathic treatments include the use of Arnica to treat blunt trauma injuries to soft tissues, the use of Bryonia and Rhus Tox for rheumatic complaints, and the use of Cantharis to treat burns that produce blistering. Calendula spray is also universally used to clean and protect cuts and scrapes.

Holistic approach

Homeopathy is  a form of individualized medicine used to treat the whole person. The key to getting a great outcome with homeopathy comes from matching the characteristic symptoms of the patient to those of the remedy. Characteristic symptoms are often the ones that are particularly intense or peculiar – not common.
