Best of … change your hair

If women chopped their hair every time they got bored with it, most of us wouldn’t have much left at all.
Switching up your hairstyle, cut or color is an easy, cheap way to play with your entire look.
From trying out new accessories, to stepping out of your comfort zone with twists, braids or different parts, these easy suggestions will show you how to change your hair every day of the week.
Clip-In Hair Extensions
Walk on the wild side
If you want a big, bold change, but not the kind you’ll have to live with for months – or even go to work with on Monday – clip-in hair extensions are for you. Use them to add a highlight of platinum or red for a sharp, edgy look. Going to a concert or artsy festival? Look for clip-in color extensions that come in blue, pink, purple and other colors. Add multiple funky streaks to turn heads, or a single vibrant color for a unique two-toned ‘do as pictured above.
Bangs
You can always grow them out
Bangs frame your face and add a fresh twist to pony tails, buns and all your other go-to hair styles. For inspiration, check out images of Betty Page’s rockabilly bangs, Zooey Deschanel’s long hipster bangs and other celebs rocking the fringe. Go to a salon to have them cut right the first time, then check out the Seventeen magazine’s bang trimming tutorial to maintain them yourself. Bangs are a big move and take a long time to grow out. If you’re not ready to commit to a style with a fringe, opt for a wig that gives you instant style gratification, like those from Especially Yours. Bangs look fantastic with thick, long hair, or shaggy short cuts.
Flaunt Feathers and Flowers
For birds and free spirits alike
Adding fresh flowers or feathers to your hair adds instant texture and interest to a whole outfit. Suddenly a plain white shirt looks whimsical. A faded tank top looks vintage hip even if it is the only clean thing in your entire closet. Wear your hair down and curled with flowers to pin back the sides or clip a feather beneath a braid. Try fun hair accessories like feathers on suede salon clip pictured above. The beautiful detail and natural patterns of these feathers will add life to your locks on even the worst hair days.
Head Bands
Pretty and functional
Sometimes the answer to how to change your hair is patience. Headbands are a girl’s response when bangs enter the crazy in between stage where they’re too short to blend in with the rest of your hair, yet so long they hang over your eyes. Welcome to the growing-them-out zone: it won’t take long to do, but in the mean time find headbands that span the spectrum from girlie or punk-ish, to elegant or glam. Slide back a headband and pull the rest of your hair up in a high top knot or back in a messy chignon.
Color
When you want a real change
Besides chopping it all off, coloring it is the most dramatic way you can change it. Head directly to a salon if you want it to come out looking natural, but if you’re keen on doing it yourself, check out semi-permanent dyes just in case you don’t fall in love with the results. Test-drive the color of your choice with a beautiful, natural-looking wig. Go from silky long brown hair to a blonde bombshell overnight!
Alter the texture
Let loose
Of all the ways we’re looking at for how to change your hair, altering the texture is both dramatic and temporary. Sleep in braids overnight to add easy crimp and curl the ends with a curling iron, or use a crimper. Hot rollers will give you big, romantic waves, but be careful not to way them down with too much product. If you hair is naturally curly or wavy, lucky duck, straighten it for a sexy, sleek change. Beauty Bridge has a full range of hair care products including sprays, styling gels and shea hair cream so your locks stay healthy no matter how you wear them.
Shape Up
For the boys
We haven’t forgotten that men crave change, too. Combat bad hair days with products made to keep you hair shiny and healthy without having to dip into your lady’s floral-scented creams. My Spa Shop has plenty of products made just for men, such as wheat germ oils rich in vitamins to give you a boost of vitality. Then experiment with a dab of shaping gel. Try spiking up the top, combing it back or experimenting with some of GQ’s top hairstyles for men.
