Use bathroom storage shelves to add space and style to your bathroom.

If looking for a way to add storage space to your bathroom without sacrificing style or design, consider using bathroom storage shelves. Not only will adding shelves to your bathroom give you additional space in which to store towels, lotions, toothpaste or other bathroom essentials, it also serves as a decorative wall piece.

Bathroom storage shelves come in a fantastic array of different designs. Shelves are available in most any color or finish, including wood, brass, antique or plastic. In addition, you also have your choice of open shelves or those that hide the contents of your shelf with doors. The doors can be see-through or solid. Many shelves even have spaces in which you can store stylish objects, such as candles or pictures. Bathroom storage shelves come in almost any shape or size, whether you are looking for a long and skinny piece or one that is short and wide. No matter what your bathroom decor, you are sure to find a storage shelve that will suit your design concept.

Some shelves come with devices called standards, which are mounted into the wall and provide brackets in which to set the shelves on. Other shelves may require you to directly screw them into the wall–your bathroom shelves will likely come with their own set of instructions. However, there are basic instructions you should follow no matter which type of bathroom storage shelves you install.

  1. Find the location of the wall studs. If you have drywall, use an electric sensor to locate the studs. Once you find the first stud, the second should be about 32 inches away. If you have wood-lath plaster wall, use a stud finder. Mark the studs with a pencil.
  2. Drill a hole into the wall stud where you marked. Typically a 1/8-inch-diameter screw works well. This is the location in which you want to hang your shelves. Now is the time to follow the directions on your particular shelving unit.

Along with your bathroom storage shelves, consider adding some additional flair to your bathroom by adding high-end bathroom accessories. Tile added to the floor, shower or wall can add a splash of color and design. In addition, adding stone accessories can make a dramatic difference in your bathroom. Travertine towel bars, toilet paper holder and soap dishes add a earthy, yet elegant feel to your bathroom. Glazed accessories, such as porcelain and ceramic toothbrush and soap holders, add a classic element to your bathroom. Also consider adding ceramic or porcelain recessed shelving to your shower for a stylish addition.

Whether you are looking for a way to spice up the design of your bathroom, or are looking for a clever and stylish way of adding space, bathroom storage shelves provide what you need while improving the look of your bathroom. Bathroom storage shelves are available for purchase online and in home goods stores.
